BigBoys are the "Missing Link" ideal as a stepping stone to help make the transition down from a mini-mal to a shortboard.  The plan-shape is basically that of an oversized shortboard so they also make good shortboards for big people or even older shortboarders who are running out of puff!

They are also good for younger surfers learning to surf as they are easier for short-armed people to carry than a mini-mal.
These boards allow for tighter turns than a Mini-mal and are also much more responsive.

Take-Off Surfboards are fully hand made from start to finish, they are not pop-outs. As is the norm with Epoxy construction, the core is made from EPS. There is a single wood stringer. The outer shell is fibreglass with epoxy resin. The epoxy resin is cured by "baking" the board in an oven. At this point the board still has no colour so it is then painted and glossed. It is this "paint on the outside" finish that leads people to assume that the boards are in some way moulded, which is not the case.
