The Little Pink Shop - 22/06/2006 Stylish and won't break the bank! Red or Bue...all popular lengths...our own great "Croyde Bay Surfing" logo.
That's our proper name by the way.. We were Croyde Bay Surfing Designs many moons ago... we invented Surf/Volkswear y'know. Travelled to VW Events all over Europe for 17 years flogging our own designs of clothing, stickers, mugs etc.
This was before Saltcock, Animal (and everybody else!). copied our idea and hopped on the bandwagen. When they all hopped on, we hopped off... to concentrate of selling surf equipement. We dropped the word "Design" and became plain old "Croyde Bay Surfing". Shame nobody told any of this to our customers who by this time were referring to us as "The Little Pink Shop".
This came about by accident... the old shop (before we knocked it down and re-built it in 1997) was a single story and what with the windows and door didn't have much masonery at all. It was beige when I bought the shop in 1987 but this grew black mould and green algie one wet damp winter so I went and got some new paint.
In a previous life I had spent a lot of time in the Caribbean. They like bright colours over there and one such colour was "Teenage Pink". Just the job to brighten up the shop I thought... the rest is history.
A word about stereotypes... A lot of people think that the shop is pink because we are gay, we don't waste any time worrying about that.
I managed to get a couple of months in Trinidad & Tobago in 1992. The motto in T&T is "Every Creed, Colour and Race, Shall have an Equal Place". You can add "Sexual Preference" to that list... we believe that surfing is for everybody... race, gender, colour, sexual preference etc. makes no difference when your at the mercy of the ocean. |
