A lot of people want to make do with just the one suit but they worry about feeling the cold in the spring and autumn if they buy a 3mm. They then worry that they will be two hot and bulky in summer if they buy a 5 mm. Now Britain is really a two suit country but in reality a lot of people hardly surf Jan to March-ish. There's a lot of people only surfing Easter to Christmas, i.e. Spring, Summer and Autumn so why not make a 3-season suit? In fact a modern technology 4mm can be as warm as the old school 5mm winter suits of times gone by anyway. If you change your mind and want an occassional surf when conditions are at their coldest you can always add a thermal rash vest, boots, gloves and a hat and you've then got some pretty good kit on, still using a suit you can carry on using throughout the summer. The future is bright for 4mm suits.
