I used to see the occasional (old) person using one but never paid any attention to them - however I realy paid attention to this type of board after an elderly lady in swimsit and flowered swimming hat outperformed an entire beach load of neoprene clad bodyboarders at Poly Joke Beach in Cornwall - She could pick up modest waves all the way to the beach that we only floundered in.
