Take-Off Surfboards have been one of the major success stories of 2006. We have sold literally 100's of these boards this summer, more than NSP and Bic put together actually. If you've not come across Take-Off Surfboards before, here's a little background... The Take-Off Surfboard brand was launched in the UK in June 2005 by CJB's Surf Co. of Cornwall. Although you may not be too familiar with their name you will certainly be familiar with many of their other brands or products. .. C-Skins Wetsuits, Bulldog Leashes and Soft Rax, Sexwax and Atunas to name just a few!  Due to the relatively low numbers of boards produced (compared to NSP and Bic for instance) there are only 29 Take-Off Dealers across the UK.

The boards themselves were developed and are built in the Far East. Technical development has been supplied by a leading Cornish Surfboard manufacturer with 30 years experience. The Take-Off Surfboards themselves are fully hand made from start to finish, they are not pop-outs. As is the norm with Epoxy construction, the core is made from EPS. There is a single wood stringer. The outer shell is fibreglass with epoxy resin. The epoxy resin is cured by "baking" the board in an oven. At this point the board still has no colour so it is then painted and glossed. It is this "paint on the outside" finish that leads people to assume that the boards are in some way moulded, which is not the case.

Take-Off Surfboards are very popular with first time buyers who are looking for a little more individuality and progression than might be found in the better known Entry-Level boards such as NSP and Bic. It is important to remember however that NSP and Bic are both pretty "idiot-proof" products whereas Take-Off, although very durable, does not suffer fools so gladly and will exhibit settling of the deck and other malaises typical of custom made surfboards. This is because a Take-Off is a custom made surfboard, albeit a stronger epoxy custom made surfboard! If you are looking for a "ding-proof" board then you should really buy an NSP or Bic but if you want individuality with performance in a robust construction at a reasonable cost, go for a Take-Off..
